FAQs
What age can my dog start training?
Dogs can begin training as soon as they are old enough to safely participate in a class setting. Puppies are welcome once they have age-appropriate vaccinations. Training early helps build good habits, confidence, and clear communication from the start.
Do you train puppies and adult dogs?
Yes. VIP Obedience Training works with puppies, adolescents, and adult dogs. Classes and lessons are structured to meet dogs where they are, regardless of age or background.
What training methods do you use?
Training is based on clear communication, structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement. We focus on teaching dogs how to succeed while helping owners understand timing, expectations, and leadership.
How do I know which class is right for my dog?
If you’re unsure, submit a class request or schedule an evaluation. We’ll review your dog’s age, experience, and goals to help place you in the best class for success.
Are private lessons better than group classes?
It depends on your goals. Group classes are great for social learning and distractions, while private lessons offer fully customized training and flexible pacing. Many clients use a combination of both.
Is my dog required to be friendly with other dogs?
No. Dogs are not required to interact with each other in class. The goal is calm, neutral behavior—not forced socialization.
What vaccinations are required?
Proof of current Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations is required before the start of class.
What should I bring to class?
Please bring a flat collar or harness, a standard leash (no retractable leashes), high-value treats, and a positive attitude. Specific equipment recommendations may be provided before class.
What happens if I miss a class?
Because classes are structured and limited in size, missed classes are not refundable. However, we encourage you to reach out so we can help you stay on track with the material.
Do you offer therapy dog certification?
VIP Obedience Training prepares teams for therapy dog work and evaluations, but completion of a therapy dog class does not guarantee certification. Dogs must meet the requirements of individual therapy organizations.
